With the Tokyo part of our trip over (see part 1), we now had six days in Osaka filled with local sightseeing and trips to nearby areas.

At the start of May, our wait was finally over. Last year, we had booked our flights for a second trip back to Japan, giving ourselves time to research what we wanted to see while patiently waiting as many friends and colleagues went before us. But now it was our turn to head over for a 2 week (and a bit) holiday in the land of the rising sun.
With some bargin flights and a booking to Draculas, we set off to Melbourne again for the second time this year. Over the two full days we tried new foods, discovered new alleys, shopping arcades and pop-culture stores, played retro games, bought novelty items and enjoyed the free wifi when it was available. Below are some photos of our time ^_^.
So this is the second post of my long weekend Melbourne trip, you can read the first part here. It seemed appropriate to start with a picture of Federation Square that’s across the road from Flinders Street Station (first picture in my last blog). Unlike my last post that was a old historical and architectural buildings bonanza, I think this one is more about modern Melbourne – the new developments and the current events going on in the city.
In Australia we’ve just had a 5 day weekend due to ANZAC day and Easter falling on the same dates. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to spend our week down in cold Melbourne for the last days of the International Comedy Festival and to get in some general sight-seeing. We went down last December for a sci-fi convention (’cause we’re nerds, yo) and we enjoyed Melbourne so much that we’ve needed an excuse to come back. This time we got 2 and 1/2 days to fully explore and take in all the sights of this beautiful city.
